witcher-3 — Mods & Enhancements

AutoLoot Configurable All-in-One (1.30-1.31)

This mod replaces the standard and enhanced AutoLoot versions with a fully configurable system that lets you control exactly which lootable containers, corpses, and plants are auto-looted, and which are skipped. It adds a detailed in-game menu (under Options -> Mods) to set filters for item rarity, weight, value, and even specific categories like alchemy ingredients or junk. Players install it to eliminate the tedious manual looting of hundreds of bandit camps and monster nests, while still preserving the choice to leave behind worthless items like broken rakes or pelts to keep inventory clean and weight manageable.

🎯 Tips & Tricks

Configure per-container type to avoid looting quest items early

Open the in-game Mods menu (Options -> Mods -> AutoLoot Configurable). Go to 'Loot Filters' -> 'Container Types'. Uncheck 'Quest' and 'Key Items' categories. This prevents the mod from auto-picking up quest-critical items like the Baron's letters or specific keys, which can break scripted events if looted out of order.

Set weight and value thresholds to prioritize valuable loot

In the same menu, navigate to 'Global Filters' -> 'Item Value Weight'. Set 'Minimum Value' to 50 and 'Maximum Weight' to 10. This ensures the mod only auto-loots items worth more than 50 crowns and lighter than 10kg, so you don't fill your inventory with heavy animal hides or cheap swords that clog your stash and slow down combat due to encumbrance.

Use the 'Loot Radius' slider to avoid aggroing guards in cities

Go to 'Behavior' -> 'Loot Radius' and set it to 1.5 meters (default is 3.0). In Novigrad or Oxenfurt, a larger radius will auto-loot chests inside houses or behind guards, which can trigger hostility. A smaller radius keeps looting safe and realistic, only grabbing items you're directly interacting with.

🔧 Troubleshooting

Infinite loading screens when used with 'The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition (W3EE)' because both mods override the same loot event scripts.

Install 'AutoLoot Configurable' AFTER W3EE in your mod manager (e.g., Vortex or Mod Organizer 2). Then, manually edit the file 'mods/modAutoLootConfigurable/scripts/player/playerWitcher.ws' and change the line 'execEvent(AutoLootOnLoot)' to 'execEvent(AutoLootOnLoot, false)' to bypass W3EE's loot event interception. This is a known compatibility patch shared on the mod's Nexus page.

Items disappear from containers but are not added to inventory when using 'Script Merger' with 'Ghost Mode' (a total overhaul).

Run Script Merger and ensure that 'autoLootConfigurable.ws' is set as the 'BASE' file, not a patch. Then, in the mod's in-game menu, under 'Compatibility' -> 'Ghost Mode', enable 'Force Vanilla Loot Logic'. This forces the mod to use the original loot table generation, preventing Ghost Mode's custom item lists from being skipped.
