Virtual Atelier

cyberpunk-2077 — Mods & Enhancements

Virtual Atelier

Virtual Atelier (by Kwek) is a framework that lets modders create in-game virtual stores (like the 'Afterlife' or 'Jinguji' shops) where you can browse and buy modded clothing, weapons, and cyberware using in-game eddies, instead of spawning items via console. It also provides a full 3D preview of any item on your V—rotating, zooming, and toggling color variants—before you commit to a purchase. Players install it to roleplay as a true merc buying from netrunners' back-alley shops, and to avoid bloating their inventory with infinite item codes.

🎯 Tips & Tricks

Preview any modded jacket with correct lighting in the Atelier store

When inside a Virtual Atelier store (e.g., 'V's Apartment' store from the mod), press F to enter preview mode. Use the mouse wheel to zoom, hold right-click to rotate the camera. To see the item in real-world lighting, press 'L' to toggle the preview background between the store's neon and the badlands' natural light. This is crucial for judging reflective materials from 'Alternative Crowd' or 'Erebus' mods.

Buy items without leaving the store by using the 'Buy All' shortcut

Open the store's catalog, press 'Tab' to switch to 'Grid View'. Then hold 'Shift' and click on multiple items to select them. Press 'B' to buy all selected items at once. This bypasses the slow per-item transaction animation, and you'll receive everything in your inventory's 'Backpack' tab, sorted by store name. Works with any Virtual Atelier store mod, including 'Erebus' and 'Ripperdoc's Corner'.

Force-refresh the store's stock to see newly added modded items

If you add a new clothing mod after already visiting a store, the shop won't show it until you reload. Open the console and type 'atelier.refresh()' to update all active stores without reloading the save. If that fails, quit to the main menu, load your save again, and the store's inventory will rebuild from the 'r6/scripts/virtual_atelier/stores' folder.

🔧 Troubleshooting

Virtual Atelier stores are empty or show only vanilla items after installing with 'Equipment-EX'

This is a load order conflict. In Vortex, set Virtual Atelier's redscript files to load AFTER Equipment-EX. Specifically, ensure 'virtual_atelier.reds' is in 'r6/scripts' and Equipment-EX's 'equipment_ex.reds' is in a different folder. If using manual install, delete 'r6/cache/modded' and let the game rebuild. Also, update Virtual Atelier to 1.4.1+ which has explicit Equipment-EX compatibility patches.

Previewing a modded item causes a crash with 'ArchiveXL' and 'TweakXL' installed

This happens when the modded item's .archive file lacks a proper 'appearance' section. Use 'ArchiveXL' to validate the item: open the console, type 'archivexl.dump <item_code>' to see if it errors. If it does, reinstall the clothing mod (e.g., 'Nola's Cyberwear') and ensure its .archive is placed in 'archive/pc/mod', not the 'modded' folder. Then restart the game and clear the 'r6/cache/modded' folder.
