UnlockLevelCurve - Level 13-20 I PATCH 8
baldurs-gate-3 — Mods & Enhancements
This mod extends the level cap from 12 to 20 for all classes, fully integrating with 5e Spells for additional spell progression. It adds new spell slots (7th, 8th, and 9th level), class features like improved Extra Attack and higher-level subclass abilities, and resources such as Ki points and Channel Divinity charges. Players install it to continue character progression beyond the base game, enabling epic-level combat and access to higher-tier spells like Meteor Swarm or True Resurrection.

🎯 Tips & Tricks
In Vortex, load UnlockLevelCurve AFTER 5e Spells (the .pak file). Go to the 'Plugins' tab, sort by 'Mod Index', and drag UnlockLevelCurve below 5eSpells. If you use manual install, place the .pak in `Data\Mods` and edit the `Mods.lsx` file to list UnlockLevelCurve after 5eSpells. This prevents spell slot conflicts — otherwise, you may get duplicate spell slots at level 13+.
After installing, if your existing character doesn't show new spell slots, go to Withers in camp and respec (costs 100 gold). Choose your class again — this forces the game to recalculate your spell slots and class features based on the new curve. Do this for each companion you want to use at high level, otherwise they'll remain stuck at level 12 progression.
Open the console (requires BG3SE) and type `GetLevel(GetHostCharacter())` — it should return 13-20. If it returns 12, the mod isn't active. Then type `GetMaxSpellSlots(GetHostCharacter(), 7)` to check if 7th-level slots exist. If they show 0, reinstall the mod and ensure no other level-cap mod (like 'Level 13-20 for all') is conflicting.
🔧 Troubleshooting
Conflicts with other level extension mods like 'TacticianPlus' or 'Level20Feats'
These mods often overwrite the same progression tables. In Vortex, set UnlockLevelCurve as the 'winner' by dragging it below all other level mods in the 'Mods' tab. If using manual, edit `Mods.lsx` to place UnlockLevelCurve last. Also, disable any mod that adds 'bonus feats at level 13' because UnlockLevelCurve already includes a feat at levels 14, 16, and 19 — duplicate feats cause crashes.
Spell slots not appearing for multiclass characters
This mod uses the 'high-level multiclass' system from 5e, so spell slots are calculated based on total caster level. If you're a Bard 10 / Warlock 3, your combined caster level is 13, but Warlock's Pact Magic is separate. To fix, ensure you have the 'Multiclass Spell Slot Fix' patch from the mod's optional files. Install that .pak AFTER UnlockLevelCurve. If that doesn't work, respec to single-class, level to 13, then add the multiclass levels.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
- Not installing the 5e Spells compatibility patch — Without it, spells like 'Wish' or 'Power Word Kill' won't be available at level 17+, and you'll only get vanilla spells up to level 6. This makes the mod feel incomplete and breaks immersion.
- Loading this mod without BG3SE — While the mod itself doesn't require SE, the in-game level-up UI will glitch (missing spell slots) because the game's UI doesn't support level 13+ natively. You need SE for the UI extension that this mod relies on for proper display.
