Achievement Enabler

baldurs-gate-3 — Mods & Enhancements

Achievement Enabler

This mod re-enables Steam and GOG achievements when playing Baldur's Gate 3 with any mods installed, including cosmetic mods, gameplay overhauls, or even the built-in mod manager's official mods. Normally, the game disables achievements as soon as it detects any .pak file in the Data folder or any script extender mod active, but this mod patches the game's achievement hook (via the Script Extender) to trick the game into thinking you're playing a vanilla save. It works seamlessly in the background with no user interface or configuration needed, and it supports both Steam and GOG versions of the game. This is a must-have for any player who wants to earn achievements like 'Leave No One Behind' or 'The Mind Flayer' while using mods that alter difficulty or add new content.

🎯 Tips & Tricks

Ensure the mod is loaded BEFORE any other mod in the load order to guarantee achievement unlock

In the BG3 Mod Manager, select 'Achievement Enabler' and click the double-up arrow to move it to the very top of the load order, above even 'ImprovedUI' and 'Script Extender'. This ensures the achievement patch is applied first, preventing any other mod from accidentally re-disabling the hook. If you use Vortex, set it as a 'Master' in the load order rules.

Use the console command to verify achievements are enabled

Open the debug console (by pressing 'Ctrl+~' if you have the Script Extender console enabled) and type 'GetAchievementsEnabled()'. If it returns 'true', the mod is working. If 'false', you need to reload your save without any other mods that might overwrite the achievement hook, like 'Better Hotbar' or 'Custom Companions'.

For GOG users, place the mod's PAK file directly into the Data folder instead of using a mod manager

Navigate to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Baldur's Gate 3\Data' and copy 'AchievementEnabler.pak' there. Then, in the game's launcher, select 'Play' and ensure the 'Force Vulkan' option is unchecked. This bypasses GOG's separate mod loading system, which sometimes conflicts with the mod's DLL injection method.

🔧 Troubleshooting

Achievements still not unlocking despite the mod being installed, especially after using the 'Customizer' mod to change appearance

This is a conflict with 'Customizer' (by Aesteria) which uses its own achievement-disabling mechanism. Open the 'Customizer' config file at 'C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Script Extender\Customizer\config.json' and set 'disableAchievements' to 'false'. Then reload your save. If that doesn't work, uninstall 'Customizer' temporarily, earn the achievement, and reinstall it.

Game crashes on launch with the error 'Script Extender not found' when using this mod

This mod requires the latest version of Baldur's Gate 3 Script Extender (v5.0.2+). Download the latest 'DWrite.dll' and 'Baldur's Gate 3 Script Extender.pak' from GitHub (github.com/Norbyte/bg3se) and place them in your game's root folder and Data folder respectively. Then, in the BG3 Mod Manager, ensure 'Achievement Enabler' is listed BELOW 'Script Extender' in the load order.
